Dominic Shipperley (born 4 January 1991) is a former professional union footballer in the sport of rugby that played with the Australian national team both in the sevens and test rugby. As a player in Super Rugby, he played four seasons for the Queensland Reds from 2011 to 2014, and then two seasons with the Melbourne Rebels. The position he played in most of the time was the wing.
Shipperley has made the Super Rugby debut for the Reds in 2011. Super Rugby season against the Hurricanes. The year that he made his breakthrough came in 2012, starting with the opening game in the Reds season when he scored a final minute match-winning goal with the Waratahs. A 75-metre sprint that beat six defenders to score , ended an eight-year streak of defeat in the Reds in Sydney and gave Shipperley the Super Rugby Try of the Award of the Year. He was a starter in all 17 matches played by Reds in 2012, and scored a goal. Reds in 2012 and also won The Most Improved Player Award in the Reds.
In June 2014 he signed a two-year deal to join the Melbourne Rebels beginning in 2015. A few weeks later, while playing for the Reds against the Rebels, he suffered a badly fractured and dislocated ankle requiring surgery. Shipperley managed to recover from that injury for the Rebels’ opening game of the season, however, playing in a famous 20–10 away win against the Crusaders in Christchurch, He went on to score four tries from twelve Super Rugby matches in 2015.
Shipperley continued his good form for the Rebels in 2016, but missed the second half of the Super Rugby season due to a knee injury. Later that year he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during the 2016 National Rugby Championship semi-final, forcing him out of all rugby for 2017.
As a player of the Australia under 20 squad that played at the IRB Junior World Championship in Argentina He scored a hat-trick in tries during the team’s win over South Africa, with Australia finishing second in the competition. He was also picked for the squad of Under 20s in 2011, however he was unable to attend the event as a result of Super Rugby commitments with the Queensland Reds.

Shipperley was born in Redcliffe, Queensland. He was a student at St Joseph’s College, Nudgee and was awarded the distinction of an OP1 that is considered to be the top grade that is possible to achieve for the Queensland Certificate of Education. He was a member of the Australian Schoolboys rugby team in 2008 and also with Brisbane’s Brothers team in Brisbane.
Shipperley was chosen to be part of The Australian Sevens squad during the 2009-10 IRB Sevens World Series, participating at three tournaments: the Wellington, Adelaide, and Hong Kong tournaments in the team that finished the tournament in third place.
Later in 2012 Shipperley received a starting Test debut for Australia against South Africa for the match in Perth after an injury forced out winger Drew Mitchell. He went on to gain two further caps in the 2012 Rugby Championship.
