A subsequent investigation by the police revealed that the man was a member of Los Priscos, a criminal bandthat was recruited from Pablo Escobar. The group’s goal was to capture as many politicians and journalists as they could to stop Colombian lawmakers from approving an extradition agreement with the United States. The other victims of this plan included Francisco Santos Calderon, Maruja Pachon as well as Marina Montoya.
