Derrick Gainer is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on August 15, 1966 in Pensacola, Florida, United States. Derrick Luther Gainer (born August 15 in 1966) is an ex- American running back in football from the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Raiders as well as the Dallas Cowboys. He played in the NCAA football tournament playing at Florida A&M University.

He was signed in February of 1992. released as a free agent to the Los Angeles Raiders. On September 2he was released to make way to accommodate quarterback Vince Evans. Later, he was signed again and the team was renamed Napoleon McCallum, only to be released on September 16, to give way to defensive lineman Tom Benson.

In 1993, he got the opportunity to compete with rookie Derrick Lassic for the starting running back job, while Smith was in a contract holdout. He was the fourth-string running back and appeared in 11 games. On May 10, 1994, he was traded to the Los Angeles Raiders in exchange for past considerations.

On the 15th of October the 15th of October, 1992, he granted a free-agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys to help on the special teams teams. On November 23rd, he was put on the injured reserve list due to an injured right hamstring. He was reinstated on the 28th of December.
