Derek Asamoah is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on May 1, 1981 in Accra, Ghana. Derek Asamoah (born 1 May 1981) is an Ghanaian professional footballer who plays the position of forward. He been a player for clubs in England, France, Scotland, Bulgaria and South Korea.
In the search of an alternative club, Asamoah trialled with both Doncaster Rovers and Scunthorpe United in July 2006. However, on the 3rd of August, 2006 Shrewsbury Town announced that he had signed with the club and had rejected Scunthorpe United.
On 2 April 2009, it was confirmed that he had a trial at Scottish side Hamilton Academical becoming the third Shrewsbury Town player to feature on their books after Colin Cramb and cult hero Victor Kasule. Asamoah made his debut for the Scottish side against Celtic, in a 6–0 thumping. At the end of the season Asamoah decided change would be best for him and left Hamilton for Bulgaria.
He never made a first-team appearance for the club. As a result of this, he had not played domestic football in over 18-months at the end of January 2009, when left Nice to begin training with Yeovil Town.
From 2006 to 2007, Asamoah was a league leader with 10 wins. Shrewsbury Town qualified for the League Two play-offs in 7th position.

Asamoah began his career in his school, the Protec Football Academy in North London. While at the Academy He played for semi-professional team Hampton & Richmond Borough, before making the move to Slough Town in 2001.
In October 2006 Asamoah was selected to the Ghana national team for friendly matches with Japan as well as South Korea, in which the player made his debut for Ghana He has since been able to make 3 appearances in Ghana and was hoping to make it into Milovan Rajevac’s squads for both the 2011 African Cup of Nations and the World Cup. In the transfer window for winter break in the middle of the season, the Ghana coach made it clear that despite being a host of talented footballers in his squad but he was going to pay attention to Asamoah and then eventually put him in the team for the World Cup in at least as many Lokomotiv Sofia games as possible.
In August 2007, Asamoah moved to French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice in a controversial transfer, where he went AWOL from Shrewsbury Town in order to sign with the French club, with no clearance from Shrewsbury, the FA or the Football League. Asamoah moved for a figure of £50,000.

On 23 September 2015, in a Football League Cup tie against Liverpool, Asamoah scored the second goal of the match, with the match ending 1–1 before extra time. Carlisle United lost the tie eventually on penalties in a 2–3 result.
