Dennis R. Patrick is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on June 1, 1951 in Los Angeles, California, United States. Dennis Roy Patrick (born June 1st 1951, in Los Angeles, California) was the Chair of the FCC from April 18th 1987 until July 7, 1989. He was chosen by Ronald Reagan, notably helping in the finalization of Fairness Doctrine. He is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Pillar Productions, an independent production company for television and film.

Patrick was appointed as a member of be a member of the FCC Commission by President Reagan in the latter part of 1983 to take the vacant seat left by the President Jimmy Carter appointee Anne P. Jones earlier in May 1983. Patrick was granted Congressional approval before being appointed Commissioner on December 2nd, 1983. He was a member of the Commission until April 18th, 1987 when he was appointed to the FCC Chairpersonship. He succeeded Mark Fowler, who had left in January. During this time, the telecommunicationsand television radio and cable industries were subject to significant regulatory and structural reform. Some of the reforms and issues involved were cable and broadcast deregulation, more stringent enforcement of the rules of decency as well as relaxation of the rules regarding television programming ownership and rights to syndicate as well as implementation of Direct Broadcast Satellite concurrence, and wide-ranging deregulation of the telecommunications industry. Under Patrick’s chairmanship the FCC controversially approved the repeal of its “fairness doctrine”, eliminating the requirement that stations offer broadcast time to both sides of political polarization questions. Patrick was removed chairmanship on 4 April 1989.

Between 1999 and 2001, Patrick served as the first President of AOL Wireless and led efforts to expand the ISP’s presence to cell phones and other wireless devices.

Between 2001 and 2013, Patrick served as President and then as non-executive Chairman of National Geographic Ventures, the for-profit division responsible for overseeing National Geographic’s film and television production as well as the National Geographic Channel. In 2005 National Geographic Feature Films released March of the Penguins, the second highest grossing documentary film of all time.

Between 1981 to the year 1983 Patrick worked as the Assistant Director of Presidential Personnel in the White House under President Reagan.
