From January 2007 through the end of November 2010 he was attending his time at the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance in Maastricht, Netherlands where he was awarded the degree of PhD in Governance Policy Analysis as well as Governance. At the time, Gyllensporre was also the Chief of Staff for the Regional Command North Headquarters of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan in 2008. In 2008, he was named Chief of Staff for the Joint Staff (Ledningsstaben) in the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm. In 2010 he left the position and was appointed Director Future Capabilities in the Joint Staff (Chef for Ledningsstabens utvecklingsavdelning) in the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters, Stockholm. He also went to the Defense Resources Management Institute at the Naval Postgraduate School in the United States. From 2012 to 2014, Gyllensporre served as military advisor in the Swedish Parliamentary Defence Commission (Forsvarsberedningen) as well as head of Plans and Policy Department in the Joint Staff (Chef for Ledningsstabens inriktningsavdelning) in the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm. On the 27th of November, 2014. He then became a military advisor to the Department for International and Security Affairs of the Ministry of Defence from 2001 until 2003. Gyllensporre was the Chief Operations Officer for the Joint Military Mission in Nuba Mountains, Sudan from 2003 until 2004, before returning to the Ministry of Defence in Stockholm the following year. In 2005, Gyllensporre graduated from his exam at the Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JCWS) at the Joint Forces Staff College, National Defense University in the United States. In 2005, he also was the Chief of Staff for the Joint Forces Command (OPIL) in Uppsala. Gyllensporre was then the Chief of the Doctrine and Concepts Branch, Policy & Plans Division, European Union Military Staff in Brussels, Belgium from 2005 to 2008.
