Dobbs was born the 30th of November 1987, in Savannah, Georgia, and was a student at Calvary Baptist Day School, where he played football in high school. At the age of seven, Dobbs reached the age of seven, he moved out of his home and moved to Bethesda Home for Boys with his brother Daniel. He did well in school and was enlisted for a football team during Calvary Baptist Day by Danny Britt who is the current athletic director of Benedictine Military School. Prior to the high school years, “Demarcus had never played football before. Calvary just wanted to give him an education,” stated Britt. “At that point, I asked him if he would be interested in trying football.” Through his junior and freshman year in Calvary Baptist, he remained close to Britt along with his parents after which he was offered to live with them in his senior year at high school. “Our girls were very small – just 4 and 5 years old at the time – and we were poor. We wondered, ‘Can we raise a teenage boy? Can we feed another child?'” The wife of Britt, Stephanie. Dobbs was moved in with his family of Britts in 2005 and formed bonds of friendship between their daughters. “The girls have always been so excited to be with me, and it’s funny when you see us together – I’m so big, and they’re so small,” Dobbs added. In 2008 when he was redshirt sophomores, Dobbs made his first career appearance at Central Michigan, where he had a career-high of four tackles and an interception which he returned for 78 yards, which was the score. When he faced Arizona State, he recorded his first sack at the college level as well as an forced fumble. He ended the season with four starts in all and 19 tackles. He also recorded two sacks along with two interceptions. In the next season, he was an integral part of the Bulldogs playing in every game for the team. He recorded a record-breaking 39 tackles, and recorded three tackles on different occasions. He also recorded 4.5 Sacks for Georgia. As a senior in 2010, he the team played in the first 10 games of 13 with 28 tackles. He set a career-high with 4 tackles over three games throughout the season.
After going undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft, Dobbs signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers. After impressing during training camp, he made the 49ers’ final roster. He was one of two undrafted free agents retained by the 49ers after final cuts, with the other being fellow defensive tackle Ian Williams.
During the 2012 preseason, Dobbs began playing the tight end position, in addition to his usual spot on the defensive line.
In the year 2006 Dobbs received a redshirt, providing him with an additional season of play. In 2007, he played in the entire 13 games played by Georgia making his first college play in the game against Hawaii at the Sugar Bowl. He played primarily with special teams of Georgia.

Demarcus Dobbs (born November 30 1987) is an American football defensive lineman who is currently an unsigned free agent. The 49ers signed him to the 49ers as a non-drafted free agent in 2011. He played football in college at The University of Georgia.
In his time at Calvary Baptist, he played at both tight end as well as defensive end. As a tight end during his senior season, he threw 14 passes, gaining 4 touchdowns and 259 yards. He was selected on the All-Coastal Empire team as a tight end. On defense, he racked up six sacks and 78 tackles. He was selected on the All-Region first team as a defensive tackle. Dobbs also played basketball in high school with Calvary Baptist, being named to the Savannah Morning News All-City First Team in 2005.
Dobbs received the Joseph E. Espy football scholarship three times during his five seasons at Georgia and graduated in December 2010 with a degree in consumer economics.
