Declan McDaid (born 22 November 1995) is a Scottish footballer who plays in the midfield for Dundee. McDaid began his football career as a junior footballer in Greenock Morton, before being elevated to the club’s premier team on April. Then, McDaid left the club just a few days later and joined (then) Scottish First Division club Partick Thistle in June 2013. After two seasons of success with Ayr United and Dundee, McDaid signed with Scottish Championship side Dundee in June 2019.

In January of this year, McDaid moved to Scottish League One club Cowdenbeath on loan in order to gain more first-team experiences. McDaid got his first professional goal on the 20th of February 2016, scoring for Cowdenbeath in an 3-2 loss at home to Peterhead which resulted in a 1-1 draw when he scored the goal.

McDaid signed a two-year deal with Dundee in June 2019. He opened his scoring account for the Dark Blues by scoring both goals in a 2–0 win over Arbroath, and followed that up a couple weeks later with a long-range goal and Man of the Match performance against his former side Ayr United.

In Greenock, McDaid made his debut with Greenock Morton’s first team on 6 April 2013, appearing as a substitute late in a 5-2 win over Airdrie United. McDaid opted to decline an offer for a full-time contract with the club . He quit in 2013.

McDaid was first invited to his Scotland Schools U18 team in 2013, following his impressive performances during the Morton reserve team that placed 2nd on the SFL Reserve League.

He scored his first goal for Ayr in a Scottish Cup round of 16 replay with Clyde in February 2017. With Ayr, McDaid would win League One in the 2017–18 season, and would follow that up with an impressive season in the Scottish Championship, finishing 4th place and qualifying for the Scottish Premiership playoffs, though were unsuccessful in their attempts at consecutive promotions.
