This was her first time she thought of wanting to become journalist. After that, she attended the Universidad Iberoamericana, graduating as an editor with a thesis on Ciudad Nezahualcoyotl. Following that, she pursued master’s degrees in the London School of Economics and Political Science on political science and her thesis focused on Althusser. She was the founder of Trilce Ediciones publishing house. In 2010, Holtz was the victim of a robbery after she returned home with her laptop, and also her vehicle in the incident.
Hotlz is the director and founder of Asociacion Mexicana de Editoriales Independientes (AEMI) formed in November 4, 2004. The organization aims to promote the tradition of lecturing as well as Mexican publishers that are independent. Holtz is in charge of establishing and coordinating AEMI, a Festival of independent books. AEMI is a grouping of 70 publishing companies that are independent that are deemed to be non-profit and skeptical. They are now members of the International Alliance of Independent Editors.
Holtz’s best-known work is her book Tacopedia. Published by Trilce Ediciones in 2012, it focuses on the Mexican folklore and traditions about tacos. It includes recipes, a map for taco styles all over Mexico, recipes for sauces, how to eat different types of tacos and interviews with taqueros from all over the country. It is known because it is the first book that combines scientific facts about tacos, how they shape Mexican culture and how they have been changing over time.
The first time Trilce has made an entrance into the realm of serious editing was the magazine was called Pasajero was owned by Tres Estrellas bus company. Then Holtz collaborated to Juan Carlos Mena, a graphic designer, and both of them publishing The volume Sensacional de diseno mexicano in 2002. The book was awarded an award from the Communication Arts award in 2002.

Her work as a journalist is focused on Mexican arts and culture. She was an anchorwoman on TV Azteca and currently she hosts a radio show named Salsajazzeando. Holtz is the creator and the director of Trilce Ediciones, a publisher that aims to provide an opportunity for publishing authors who are self-published. The majority of the books that are released by the publisher are about poetry, art and pop culture.
