Death of Kenton Joel Carnegie is one of the most popular and richest Engineering Student who was born on February 11, 1983 in Ajax, Ontario, Canada. Kenton Joel Carnegie (11 February 1983 from 11 February 1983 to 8 Nov 2005) was 22 years old. He was a Canadian geotechnical engineering graduate from Ontario working on a term at the University of Waterloo who died in an attack by wild animals when walking in the vicinity of Wollaston Lake. Dumping of waste brought the wolves and black bears to the region. The trucker stated that he had a conversation with Carnegie inside the caféteria few days prior to his demise He had handed out close-up photos of large young wolves that were spotted near him on walks through the woods nearby, and was advised by the trucker that these encounters could be extremely risky. A bush pilot stated that he had warned Carnegie of an incident where adult wolves had attacked others who were walking around the camp however, Carnegie’s family claimed Carnegie would not risked his life if he was were warned. After examining the evidence, which included tracks of wolves left on his body, the conclusion of the coroner’s inquiry was that Carnegie was killed by the wolves. If this is the case, it will make his death among the first cases to be confirmed of the fatality of a wild wolf attack within North America.
The Chief Coroner’s secret investigation report was released during the spring of 2006 and was presented to the Carnegie family to be reviewed. The report concluded that Carnegie had been killed by an animal or a wolf as well as that the poorly executed initial investigation as well as the uncertainty of evidence circumstantial to the case prevented the conclusion of a final verdict. A date for an Inquest in February 2007 was later set by the chief coroner but the date was changed to the 29th of October, 2007.
Lacking an eyewitness account, all we know for certain is that Carnegie’s body was found on a lakeside trail near Points North Landing, a northern outpost with an airstrip. A large predator had scavenged him. We conclude from circumstantial evidence that Carnegie’s death was not a homicide as no indications of foul play were found at the scene of the accident. Moreover, we concur with the autopsy and forensic reports, which state unequivocally that no other signs, injuries, or cause of death, were observed other then [sic] those consistent with an animal attack. The type of wounds and feeding pattern confirm predation as the probable cause of death. Most likely, Carnegie was surprised by a violent predacious assault and sustained fatal wounds at an early stage during the attack..
The CBC put trapper Harold R. Johnson book Cry Wolf, partially inspired by Carnegie’s death, on its 2020 spring reading list.
The Province of Saskatchewan chose not to make an argument to support the conclusions that the Chief Coroner made. The lawyer who represented the crown didn’t conduct thorough interviews with witnesses. In addition, the judicial inquests conducted are conducted in Saskatchewan employ a less strict standard to determine the causes of dying (balance of probabilities, or 51 percent) as opposed to the determinations made by chief coroners (reasonable doubt, or 95 95%). On the 1st November 2007 after three days of evidence and the examination of photos of the body of Carnegie as well as the scene that the accident occurred, a jury of six found that wolves were the cause for the death of Carnegie.

Prior to the death of Carnegie prior to his death, there was at the very least one documented instance of a fatal attack by wolves on a person within North America, namely Canada in which Patricia Wyman died on 18 April 1996. More than 300 incidents of bears acting violently towards humans were reported throughout the Province, which includes the three deaths of a victim. The most convincing evidence for the bear attack was that the body of Carnegie was covered in the tracks of wolves, but no tracks of bears were discovered close to his body.
Points North Landing in the province of Saskatchewan is a center of services for the uranium mines. Timber wolves and bears ate on the camp’s waste and were spotted nearby. In the months preceding the death of Carnegie, a lonely bear attacked a fifty-five-year-old miner known as Fred Desjarlais who was jogging back after work at Key Lake. He was able to fight it off until a large group of his fellow workers came to his aid by scaring the wolf away. They later transported Desjarlais to the nearby hospital. After a few hours the air ambulance took Desjarlais into the Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital where he received a number of rabies treatment. Following the attack upon Desjarlais, Cameco built an electric fencing around the landfill at Key Lake to deter prey-like animal attacks on miners. Authorities hunted down and killed the wolf who was threatening Desjarlais. The wolf’s body was tested for rabies but the test was positive. On the 4th of November, 2005, a naturalist who looked over photographs from an incident where the wolves, which were supposed to have spooked two walkers who were not Carnegie and Carnegie, stated that it was consistent with animals that have a food-based lack of fear when they are close to humans. The idea was that one the wolf’s posture suggested that it was alert and capable of attacking. Another expert challenged the authenticity of the wolf’s posture.
Constable Noey noted that Mr. Carnegie’s tracks reversed course from the lake, the tracks moved up the trail a short distance and then there was a large disturbance in the snow as if something rolled in the snow. That may have been where Mr. Carnegie was first attacked and possibly bitten in the leg or shin early in the encounter. Beyond the disturbed snow in the trail, Kenton’s track breaks into a run and ventures off the trail into the surrounding muskeg and forest. At that point he was being pursued, or possibly the act of running stimulated the pursuit. Then there is a lot of blood in the snow, both drops and pooled blood. Constable Noey said it appears Carnegie stood at that point for some time because Kenton’s wide-stanced footprints straddled a large amount of blood on the vegetation and on the ground. That sequence is exactly what we would expect with a wolf attack, i.e., initial attack, pursuit, wounding bites inflicted, then a retreat of the wolves while the prey is weakened by blood loss. The drops and undisturbed pooling of blood do not suggest a bear attack where the bear would maintain constant contact with its prey and overpower it with physical force.
