David Uosikkinen (born February 11 1956, in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, U.S.) is an American drummer and Internet content manager. He is most well-known for his role as the founding member of the rock group The Hooters.
The year was 1980. Uosikkinen became a part of Philadelphia musician Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian in 1980 when they decided to experiment with something different by mixing reggae, ska as well as rock and roll. They formed The Hooters.
Uosikkinen moved to California in 1991, initially to Los Angeles before moving to San Diego. He moved back to Philadelphia in 2009 where he resides with his wife, Dallyn Pavey. He has one son, Sam, who was born in 1990.
In 1994, Uosikkinen and entrepreneur, Dave Macrae, launched an independent record label, Moskeeto Records.
After seven albums The Hooters obtained a huge global fan base throughout the 1990s and 1980s. They were asked to host three major events in the world of music at the last decade of the 20th century. Uosikkinen was raised at Levittown, Pennsylvania and at eight when he started playing the trumpet. His father often took him to see jazz groups in The Lambertville Music Circus and after seeing The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show on February 9 1964 Uosikkinen decided that playing music as well as being a part of the band was something he wanted to do throughout his life. He eventually began playing the drums after a friend allowed him to play on his new drum set.
