David Saunders (born January 31 1976) is an ex- Arena football’s wide receiver as well as linebacker. He played in the collegiate game for West Virginia University.

The year 2002 was the time that Saunders got signed to The Tampa Bay Storm. In 2002 Saunders was named MVP of the team while leading the team with touchdowns. He was also second on the team for receiving yards, receptions and scoring. With 11 tackles on defense, Saunders ranked 12th on his team. Against the Georgia Force, he led the Destroyers’ receivers with seven receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown. The Destroyers lost in ArenaBowl XXI against the San Jose SaberCats on July 29, 55-33, with Saunders recording three receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown.

In his first career game with the Rattlers, a loss to the San Jose SaberCats, Saunders recorded four receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown. He finished the season with 16 receptions for 179 yards averaging 11.6 yards-per- reception, and six touchdowns. On May 20, 2008, he was released by the Rattlers.

As of 2001 Saunders was released by the Red Dogs following the season and was recruited with the New Jersey Gladiators. When he was playing with the Gladiators they positioned him for the bulk of the season playing offensive specialist. The season ended with 55 catches and the distance of 760 yards and 18 touchdowns.

In 1994, when he was an undergraduate on the campus of West Virginia University, Saunders was a redshirted player and joined the Scout team. In 1995 in his first year as a freshmen redshirt Saunders was given the starting position as flanker. He finished the year with the position of the team’s top receiver with 38 catches , 5 touchdowns and 682 yards.
