David Obua is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on April 10, 1984 in Kampala, Uganda. David Obua began playing for the Cranes during his time with Super League club Express FC. The team was in the midst of a major change when, on September 7, 2007 Obua had a goal-scoring hat trick in the national team of Uganda at the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger that Uganda defeated 3-1. 10 October 2011 Obua was reported to have refused to sit with the president of the Republic of Uganda in their training camp. He also had not had a good relationship with the FUFA president. He then resolved to never take part in a match for Uganda ever again, at the very least, during the time that the president Lawrence Mulindwa and head coach Bobby Williamson were involved with the preparations. His first goals in the national team of Uganda in a match against Ghana on July 3rd, 2004 at the Nakivubo Stadium

On 3 June 2015, former Heart of Midlothian star Obua was involved in a car accident. During 2017 Africa Cup of Nations he was among the analysts in the Super Sport studios during matches.

On 25 March 2015 Obua retired from football, however, he subsequently trained with Kampala club Kampala Capital City Authority FC to keep up his fitness.

After the expiry the term of the Kaizer Chiefs contract he was eligible for a free transfer during 2008’s summer. He was offered a trial at Premier League club West Ham United before settling on to sign a contract in the summer of 2008 with Scottish Premier League club Heart of Midlothian. On August 6 it was discovered the fact that Obua was granted an official work permit, and been signed by Hearts.

David Obua (born 10 April 1984) is an Ugandan soccer coach as well as a former athlete. The coach is also the assistant for Maroons FC in the Ugandan Premier League. While playing, Obua played for Police FC, Raleigh Capital Express, Wilmington Hammerheads, Kaizer Chiefs and Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premier League. On the international stage Obua was a member of the Uganda the national team. He also holds an impressive record of having the nation’s top goal scorer with an all-time record at the Africa Nations Cup and World Cup qualifying matches.

Obua was noticed by Kaizer Chiefs when he was training in Uganda. He was spotted by Kaizer Chiefs while playing for Uganda National team in a match playing against South Africa and was offered an agreement for three years. His debut came on August 11, 2005, in a 2-0 victory against Dynamos. Obua got his first Chiefs goals at the Soweto derby on the 29th of October 2005. Obua excelled throughout his stay during his time in South Africa, winning the championship and the South African Player of the of the Year during the 2006-07 season.

He found life in the SPL difficult in his first two seasons, although he did see an improvement in his form when Jim Jefferies replaced his former national manager Csaba László. In the absence of a target man, Obua was often played in the unfamiliar role of striker. Obua scored the winner in an Edinburgh derby at Easter Road, home of arch rivals Hibernian. Obua was sent off at Hearts’ home match against Celtic on 11 May 2011 at an eventual 3–0 loss. He scored the opening goal of the 2011–12 SPL season against Rangers at Ibrox with a header from a corner. Obua was told in April 2012 that his contract with Hearts would not be extended.
