Menkin was the child of his Norwegian mother, and an American father in Moss in the US, where he was a child until his family relocated to Benin to take part in Saga Petroleum’s oil drilling within West Africa. In a radio interview from 2018 Menkin stated that the multi-cultural background created “a great impression” on him. When he was a teenager, his family relocated to London. He was a student at New York University and graduated in 1999 from the Mountview Theatre School in London in the city where he lives and performs as an actor.
In the Norwegian TV show Lykkeland, Menkin plays Jackson. The show debuted in NRK and DR1 October , 2018. Lykkeland was awarded Best Script and the Best Song in the Canneseries on April that year. Menkin claimed that his role in Lykkeland is the “first proper Norwegian acting job”.
