Martot was a member of the youth program of Le Havre to their “B” team during the season 2001-2002. He was promoted to the first team the next season, playing at 25 occasions during Ligue 1 and scoring two goals. The same number of appearances during the 2003-04 season, but playing in Ligue 2 after Le Havre were dropped, scoring only one goal. In the 2004-05 season, Martot took part in only six games but nonetheless, he added one goal to his record. Martot scored five goals in 32 games during the 2005-06 season. He also scored two goals in 23 games later in the season.

Martot’s contract for a provisional loan at Brighton was scheduled to expire by the end of November 2007.
