David Holdsworth is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on November 8, 1968 in Walthamstow, United Kingdom. David Gary Holdsworth (born 8 November 1968) is an English former professional footballer and manager.
In the month of March 1999, Holdsworth was transferred into Birmingham City. He was instrumental in helping Birmingham to reach the play-offs towards the end of the season when they took on the club he played for at Watford. But Holdsworth was sent off when they were defeated in penalties. He played for three seasons in the club, guiding them reach winning the League Cup Final in which the team was not able to use him as a substitute during the loss to Liverpool.
In January 2002 he went on loan to Walsall. At Walsall he scored once against Coventry but was sent off twice in 3-0 defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves.
On 29 December 2008 Holdsworth was appointed as the new manager of Conference National club Mansfield Town having led Ilkeston to sixth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, ten points off first placed Hednesford Town with two games in hand.
In October of 1996 He quit Watford to pursue a new opportunity with Sheffield United. In his debut season he led United to win the 1997 Football League First Division play-off Final, only to be defeated in the play-off by Crystal Palace. He also assisted them in reaching an 1997-98 FA Cup semi final at Old Trafford where they were defeated by Newcastle United. In the quarter-final replay, against Coventry City, United found themselves in a 1-0 deficit in the final at Bramall Lane with 2 minutes remaining. Holdsworth came on to score an equaliser after a corner, and send the game into overtime and penalties, after which United were able to win.

Holdsworth began his career with Watford in the mid-80s and went on to make over 250 matches with the team. In Watford the player played alongside the brother Dean Holdsworth.
As as a player, he played as an defender who played between 1986 to 2005 between 1986 and 2005 for Watford, Sheffield United, Birmingham City, Walsall, Bolton Wanderers and Gretna. After being released by Birmingham in 2002, he joined Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer where he played alongside his brother Dean again. However, he only made one appearance for the Trotters: in a League Cup defeat to Bury (David started and his brother Dean came on as a substitute). Shortly afterwards he joined Scarborough in the Football Conference and then Scottish club Gretna where he retired. Whilst at Gretna he scored once, his goal coming in the Scottish Cup against Dumbarton.
