The award was later rescinded in the Higher Regional Court (Oberlandesgericht) Stuttgart in 2016, as Bardens had submitted a number of publications instead of one, in response to the request of Lanka.
Lanka ultimately challenged the judgment. The case was revisited by the Higher Regional Court (Oberlandesgericht) Stuttgart on the 16th of February, 2016 and the ruling was overturned. In November 2011 , the campaign against vaccination Stefan Lanka guaranteed a prize of 100,000 euros to prove the existence of measles virus as well as the measurement of its size.
