David Harold Widell, Jr. (born on May 14 1965) is an ex- American football player and guard who played for 11 years in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Atlanta Falcons. He played in the NCAA football tournament playing at Boston College.
The year was 1991. He played two games as a left guard, and later took over Keith Kartz as the starting center for final games played against Houston Oilers and the Buffalo Bills.
On March 15, 1995, he signed as a free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was named the franchise’s first starting center. He was the regular starter at center for 3 seasons.
Widell signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in 1998. He was a part of the Atlanta Falcons’ Super Bowl XXXIII losing team. He was released on February 17, 1999, after being inactive in 14 games and having played in only one.
On the 24th of August in 1990, he was dealt to Denver Broncos in exchange for seven-round selections for the year 1991 (#173-Leon Lett) and an eighth round pick for the year 1992 (#222-Mike Pawlawski).

Widell was chosen as the 4th round (94th in the overall) from the 1988 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He played in eight games as a left tackle. He became the only rookie player in the history of the franchise to play in the season opener as offensive tackle. In his second year , he played in two games.
As a member of the Denver Broncos, he joined his brother Doug Widell (who was also his teammates from Boston College), becoming the first NFL brothers of the modern day to play along the offensive line. As of 1990, the pair was a participant throughout the entire 16-game season in the role of long snapper. He also played left guard in the final five games.
In 1992, he started the season opener at center. The next year, he started 15 games, playing between guard and center. In 1994, he started 16 games at left guard.
