In 2008, Cooper started to explore animation in the year 2008 and was able to get two of his first children’s television shows approved for greenlighting -the Pig Goat Banana Cricket for Nickelodeon and The Bagel and Becky Show for Teletoon/BBC. His adult-oriented short film The Eddy Table Absence released in the autumn of 2016, and has since won several awards around the world.
In 2019, a French publisher will release a 300-page English/French retrospective of Cooper’s work, Pillowy, the Art of Dave Cooper. Also in 2019, Cooper joined the board of directors of Ottawa’s cutting-edge artist-run centre Saw Gallery.
Around the turn into the 20th century Cooper transformed into an oil artist. He exhibited through galleries located in Los Angeles and New York City. Cooper also had a massive show of his comic book art that took place in Angouleme in 2002 and Paris at the end of 2002. His monographs included introductions from comic actor David Cross, and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.

Cooper started working in the late 90s producing the underground Comics published by Seattle’s Fantagraphics Books. The periodical Weasel was awarded two awards: an underground Ignatz Award and the Harvey Award in 2000. His graphic novel about psycho-erotics Ripple featured an introduction written by David Cronenberg.
In the summer of 2017 Cooper returned to oil painting, embarking on ambitious new works for his largest gallery show to date — 70 paintings for Paris 2020. Concurrently, he completed his largest single commission for a Madrid museum — a 13′-wide nod to Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights.
