Dave Beer is one of the most popular and richest Nightclub Owner who was born on January 24, 1965 in Wakefield, England. Dave Beer (born David Michael Beer on January 24, 1965) is a Yorkshire music mogul who earned fame in the 1990s when he was the organizer of the longest-running UK club night, Back to Basics. In the beginning his passport’s title was “purveyor of good times” and he was later to be referred to by music magazine Mixmag for being”the “King Of Clubs”. Thanks to his Leeds club night Back To Basics, Dave is listed as one of the most youthful males on display in Leeds City Museum’s show that chronicles the culture of popular music in Leeds.
In the early 1990s and in the light of his flamboyant style, Dave Beer launched his own label of fashion called Damage. The line featured both men and women’s T-shirts that were made of high-end fabrics. They all featured bold slogans and designs that some claim paved the the boom in slogan T-shirts that came later in the nineties.
Dave and Alistair grew tired of the acid house scene and wanted to put on parties> where alternative music to the rave scene was played. Through Back To Basics, they made clubbing fashionable, and throughout the 1990s it was one of the most desirable places to go, causing road blocks in Leeds city centre. At the time, Back to Basics had a strict, sometimes controversial and inconsistent door policy which made it one of the hardest clubs to get into. Dave personally greeted all 80 clubbers on the opening night and those who were refused entry due to their dummy sucking or poor choice of trainers were encouraged to try harder next time.
Over the next 20 years from 1991 to the present day, Dave toured Back To Basics all over the world from Australia to the USA and held club residencies at Home London, and Space Ibiza. He was responsible for nurturing the talent of Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada giving them some of their first gigs as unknown artists. Dave was also responsible for bringing international talent into the UK for the first time including Danny Tenaglia, Josh Wink and Frankie Knuckles.
Dave was a world traveler many times with various groups before he got bored of life on the road. It was the beginning of the acid house movement in the year 1988 that took Dave to a different direction completely. He went to the Hacienda as well as the well-known warehouse parties that were illegal in Blackburn experiencing his first experience of acid house but after it was the time for him to sign up with Criminal Justice Act hit in 1991, banning parties held in libraries that were no longer in use and warehouses, Dave found inspiration in the new scene of music that was dominating England and was keen to join it.
