Dashi Namdakov was born into Dashi Namdakov was born in Buryat village Ukurik, Chita Oblast of Russia on the 16th of February 1967. The full title of his name was Dashinima (‘Dashi Nima’) which translates from Buryat as “Lucky Sun”. He was the sixth of eight children of Balzhan and Buda-Khanda Namdakov.
In the year 2000, Dashi Namdakov had his first solo show at Irkutsk Art Museum. The show was a huge popularity with the public. A few years later, he was invited to stage the exhibition at Moscow. In an exhibition of a group at the Central House of Artists, Dashi displayed his work alongside other young Russian artists. In the following months, the public began to discuss Namdakov’s artwork within his native Russian capital. This was the beginning of a real nomadic lifestyle for the artist. He relocated to Moscow in 2004.
On May 11, 2015 another statue, She-Guardian (bronze, 11m high) was installed on the same spot near Marble Arch.

In 1988, Dashi began the course in Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Fine Arts. Following his graduation in 1992 Dashi was back at Ulan-Ude in order to work.
