Darya Tkachenko (born 21 December 1983) is a Russian (since 2016) previously Ukrainian (until 2015.) as a draughts expert who holds titles in the FMJD designations in the categories of FMJD Master (MF) and Women’s International Grandmaster (GMIF). She is a four-time world women’s champion (2005 2006, 2007 2008, 2005, 2011) as well as twice female European champion (2004 and 2005,) internationally in draughts. The year she was born, she won the world championship for women of Turkish draughts.
In 2007, Tkachenko was unable to defend the World title, which allowed Tansykkuzhina to take the top spot at the event at Jakutsk, Russia, but in the following year she was able to win the title when she won the match against with her Russian opponent. Both in 2007 and 2008 she was crowned the European team cup two times using the “Motor Sich” Zaporizhia. In 2010, Tkachenko was eliminated from both the European as well as World championships, finishing at the bottom of the list within Europe and 4th of six participants at the World championship, but the following year, she won with the title of world champion after beating Zoja Golubeva in a 3 set match.
Darya Tkachenko is a native of Torez, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. She completed the high school at Snizhne, Donetsk Oblast, before beginning her biology courses at Kiev University. She graduated in 2004 and then went on to postgraduate studies at the same institution, which she completed successfully in 2007. In 2008, she began working on her Doctoral thesis.

Darya began playing draughts when she was just 10 years old. In November 1996, at just 13 years old she took home the bronze medal in the Ukrainian Under 19 championships. In 1999, she was crowned an European under 19 champion. The following year she took the title again and also took home the silver medal in the World Under 19 championships. In 2001, she was an World Under 19 champion and also won a senior Ukrainian championship.
In 2003, she took home the Ukrainian championships. In 2004, she won her senior European championships, and then in 2005, the World championships were held in Latronico. The following year, she again became an European or World champion, after she won the World championship game again against Russian rival Tamara Tansykkuzhina. She also took home the European team cup as part of”Pleso”, the “Pleso” team.
