Walker was a student at Walterboro High School, South Carolina and was a athlete in track and field. He also established records in the State Record in the Shot-Put throwing distance of 63 feet that was later set by one inch. In addition, he was a 4th grader from his class of 4A high school. Darwin is the perfect example of a student-athlete.

Walker was selected with the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the 2000 NFL Draft, but was let go before playing.

He was then traded on March 26, 2007 (along with a conditional 2008 draft pick) to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb. However, there was a proviso to that trade stating that if Walker did not report to Bills training camp by August 5, 2007, he would be returned to the Eagles in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2008. He reportedly held out for a contract extension and never reported to Buffalo’s training camp that year.

On April 28, 2008, he signed with the Carolina Panthers.

Then, Walker was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2000 season, and Walker played all the way through the 2006 season.
