Danny Edward Sebright (born February 27th 1957) is head of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council, a Washington, D.C.-based business advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening commercial and trade relations among both the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Sebright was employed by the Department of Defense and the Defense Intelligence Agency for nearly 20 years, the most recent serving as the Policy Director within the Office of the Secretary of Defense until 2002. Sebright was a part of several campaigns for political office, but most notable was as Howard Dean’s advisor on foreign policy during his presidential run. Sebright was a senior advisor for The Cohen Group’s Middle East practice group at The Cohen Group from 2002 until the year 2018.

Sebright joined the private sector in 2002. Sebright joined the business world to be employed by the former U.S. Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen at The Cohen Group, a international strategic consulting firm that operates in the crossroads of government policy, public policy and business. He was an adviser to senior levels within The Middle East practice group from 2002 until 2018. Sebright joined the Defense Intelligence Agency as an intelligence officer immediately upon graduation from university, where he worked for the next ten years, eventually holding a senior rank in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and National Joint Military Intelligence Collection Center. In his time at DIA, he served overseas in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. He was honored with the Director of Central Intelligence’s Exceptional Analyst Award in 1990, the DIA Civilian Service Award for Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1991, and the Exceptional Civilian Service Award for diplomatic achievements in Israel in 1992.

After his tenure in DIA, Sebright transitioned into directorship at the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. He began his career as the Country Director for Israel as the Under Secretary for Defense in charge of international Security Affairs, and later acting as Director of the Executive Secretaryariat of the Global War on Terrorism for the Under Secretary of Policy from 2001 until 2002. In his time, Sebright cultivated extensive contacts with U.S. and foreign defense industry leaders to coordinate and execute DoD arms sales to Israel as well as other countries throughout the Middle East. In addition, he was an advocate for U.S. defense relations with Israel to a broad range of public-interest groups. Sebright was also an DoD representative for numerous peace talks mediated through U.S. officials. Sebright was a student at the University of Washington, D.C., where he earned a bachelor’s diploma in International Affairs from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs in 1984. In 2000-2001, Sebright completed the mid-career master’s degree program at Harvard University’s John F. Sebright has been instrumental in helping secure the U.S.-U.A.E. 123 Agreement for civilian nuclear energy cooperation in 2009. He has worked to build closer business alliances for U.A.E. investment in the U.S. in projects like GlobalFoundries in Saratoga, NY. He has been at the forefront of efforts to approve landmark U.S. weapons sales and commercial aircraft deals by U.S. companies with the U.A.E.
