On July 1, the 1st of July, 2011, Buijs was signed on a 1-year contract for one year with Scottish premier League team Kilmarnock. Buijs was first introduced in the match in the match against Motherwell in Rugby Park on Saturday 30 July 2011. On the 18th of March, Buijs played in the 2012 Scottish League Cup Final which Kilmarnock was victorious after beating Celtic 1-1. Buijs began the match and was replaced by Lee Johnson after 20 minutes because of an injury.

The summer of 2009 saw Buijs was a member of ADO Den Haag, after having been on loan to the team for one year. He signed a contract that lasted two years. But, ADO Den Haag struggled in the Eredivisie during Bujis first season and on April 14, 2010 English Football League Championship side Derby County announced they had reached an agreement to sign Buijs to start their 2010-11 campaign. They walked away from the dealhowever after their signing with the Crewe Alexandra’s John Brayford.

On 8 March 2002 Buijs made his professional debut in Excelsior’s 3-0 home win over Cambuur Leeuwarden. The team did not go on to become league champions , but they did get promoted to the Eredivisie by way of promotion play-offs that took place at the conclusion in the league. In the Eredivisie Buijs was an all-time first team player for Excelsior however they had a difficult time competing against other teams and were they were relegated back to the Eerste Divisie right away. Buijs nearly moved into Sparta Rotterdam as Henk van Stee was almost appointed the manager of the club, however when he became Excelsior’s new manager , he decided to stay on and play another season at Eerste Divisie level. The year Excelsior did not win the title until the final day of the season, and did not get promoted through promotion play-offs, also. Feyenoord would like to prolong his deal but at the same rate that he had already earned from his initial professional deal. Other teams that were interested included Vitesse Arnhem, Roda JC and FC Groningen. In the end, he chose to agree to a deal to FC Groningen and leave Feyenoord.

At FC Groningen he had a successful period. When he joined the club, he mentioned in an interview that he wanted to be able to play European football in the new club. The club did not take his words seriously or Martin Drent even asked him to prove he wasn’t crazy. He began as a right back , with Kurt Elshot as the right midfielder. It was not to be successful due to a number of injuries. Buijs ended up becoming a defensive midfielder , and in the next season, he was exclusively playing as a right-midfielder. This season FC Groningen qualified for the UEFA Cup in the 2006-07 season. Buijs began the season with FC Groningen, played two Eredivisie matches , and his work at Groningen resulted in him being transferred back to his former club Feyenoord.

In the summer of 2012, Buijs signed a one-year deal with Sparta Rotterdam.
