Daniel Buckner Price was born on February 25, 1975, to the Dr. Steve and Mrs. Kathy Price of New Orleans. Price was born in New Orleans with his three siblings. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School (New Orleans). In high school, between 1989 and 1993, he was a student at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). Price was then enrolled at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he received the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the school’s Meadows School of Fine Arts in 1998. Price was married to his high school student Sarah Abbott in 2002.

Daniel Price (1975-2003) was a well-known artist from New Orleans living and working within San Francisco, California. He was shot dead when he was protecting his wife at midnight on the 19th of December 2003.

Home for the Holidays is a benefit concert that was organized by NOCCA and the Price Family in order to further fundraise for the Daniel Price Memorial Fund. In 2012, the ninth concert was held, bringing in some of New Orleans’ best talent to pay their respects to Price and to support the memorial fund. House of Blues New Orleans holds the well-attended and successful annual event.

In his time in SMU, Price was an editorial cartoonist for the school’s paper, The Daily Campus. The year 1997 was the year that his work earned Price his Best Cartoonist Award from the College Media Advisors Student Award Program, which examines the college newspapers across the country.

Just after midnight on the 19th of December 2003. Price had been murdered at midnight for undetermined reasons by an unknown killer. Price along with his partner, Sarah Abbott Price, returned from a holiday gathering at the Cow Hollow (Neighborhoods in San Francisco), San Francisco apartment. Sarah was heading home as well. Price was planning to continue by taking the taxi for another party. Price was inside the car when he noticed an individual approach Sarah when she was heading into the building. Price then tried to help his wife enter the building safely after which the stranger pulled out a gun and fired Price on the forehead from a short distance. Price was found dead shortly thereafter in San Francisco General Hospital. It is believed that the perpetrator might have been a person who attempted to hijack a limousine in the area at the time of his death, however after his attempt failed, the man fled by feet. When he was killed, Price and fled, he sped away , and the identity of his killer remains unknown. Price’s murderer was featured on America’s Most Wanted TV show. There were no witnesses on the scene, police tried using the video footage of a taxi cab but failed to identify the perpetrator. They’ve sketched several times but none of them have been effective. The robbery attempts were not executed on Daniel Sarah’s purse. The purses. It was not robbed The killer was only requesting access to the apartment.
