Naturalized Icelandic national, Thomas made his debut in the Icelandic national basketball team in 2018.
Thomas has been married for a while with Fanney Lind Thomas who is who is an Icelandic pro basketball athlete and former player on the Icelandic the national team of basketball. After he was granted Icelandic citizenship in the year 2018, Thomas took on his Icelandic middle name Axel.
On May 8, 2018, Thomas signed with Tindastóll. On 30 September, he won the Icelandic Super Cup after Tindastóll beat KR, 103-72. During the regular season, Thomas averaged 13.2 points and 5.9 rebounds and played all 22 games. In the playoffs, he averaged 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds but was unable to prevent the team from a heartbreaking loss against Þór Þorlákshöfn in the first round of the playoffs.
On March 25, 2018, Thomas scored the game winning and series clinching basket in game five of ÍR’s first round playoffs series against Stjarnan.
Thomas began his journey with Thor Akureyri in 2015 and helped them take home the 1. deild karla championship in 2016 and then be promoted to Urvalsdeild Karla. Thomas left the club in January 2017 after scoring 16.6 per cent, 7.1 rebounds and 3.1 in 13 games. He later was then signed to IR.

Thomas played in the NCAA basketball tournament at Murray State from 2006 to 2010. On March 19 2010 he scored an uncontested 15-foot shot at the final buzzer, resulting in the 13th-seeded Murray State a 66-65 victory over fourth- seeded Vanderbilt in the opening stage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.
