Wolf was born the 11th of August 1957, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spent the summers on Cape Cod with his family. Wolf went to his school at the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia and was awarded an undergraduate degree in Arts with a major in Political Science at Wesleyan University in 1980. Following college, he obtained an education from Airframe and Power Plant Maintenance at the Quaker School of Aeronautics. He obtained a private and commercial license for pilots while in Boston as an organizer for the union and community. In the 1980s, he was the director of Chatham Municipal Airport. Chatham Municipal Airport and worked as a flight instructor, before creating Cape Air in 1988.
Wolf has been married for a while to Heidi Schuetz, a chef who works on Cape Cod, and together they have three daughters: Stella, Zoe, and Ruby. In the year 2010, Wolf was presented with an honorary doctorate from Daniel Webster College.
An advocate for universal and single-payer health care, Wolf is a supporter of both Massachusetts health care reform and President Barack Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). On July 10, 2012 Wolf testified before the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to discuss the effects of the two laws. Wolf’s further statements on the positive aspects of PPACA were eventually cut short by chairman Darrell Issa, a staunch PPACA opponent. Wolf supported a failed amendment in 2012 which would have implemented single-payer health care in Massachusetts if a study proved it was more effective in reducing costs than the state’s current model.
His campaign set records for fundraising with a war chest of over $300,000, more than either of his opponents. In the Democratic primary Wolf faced and defeated Barnstable County Commissioner Sheila Lyons with nearly twice as many votes. In the general election Wolf defeated Republican real estate developer James H. Crocker Jr. In his 2012 bid for re-election Wolf faced no competition in either a primary or general election. In 2014 Wolf was re-elected to his third term, defeating Republican Ron Beaty in the general election.
With the help of a government loan, Cape Air expanded into Indiana on the 13th of November 2007 and began offering services starting from Indianapolis up to Evansville as well as South Bend. Since it was unable to get the necessary passengers to make it financially viable The final Cape Air flight in Indiana was on August 31st of 2008. In September of 2010 the United States Department of Transportation’s Essential Air Service (EAS) picked Cape Air to fly a federally subsidised route linking Augusta, Maine and Boston. Service was launched in December.

Daniel A. “Dan” Wolf (born August 11 1957) is an American businessman, pilot of an aircraft and politician. He was born in 1989 and established the airline that is based on Cape Cod Cape Air, which originally operated from Provincetown as well as Boston in Massachusetts The airline has since expanded to international destinations. In 2010 his election into the Massachusetts Senate to represent the Cape and Islands district. He won the election without opposition in 2012 and was then reelected to another term in 2014. In the time since his election the senator has become a leader of the progressive side in the Senate and has been a proponent of renewable energy, a higher minimum wages and universal health insurance.
In 1988, Wolf established Cape Air, a company for airline travel. Cape Air, which at time operated only from Boston to Provincetown, Massachusetts. After a single route, eight employees and one aircraft the company has grown to become the biggest independent regionally-based air carrier. Cape Air now serves parts of the East Coast, Midwestern United States and the Caribbean and Micronesia with a workforce of around 1,000. The year 1994 was the time that Nantucket Airlines was purchased by Cape Air and was made an affiliate to Cape Air. Cape Air is an employee-owned company and is the only air carrier within the United States with a female president. After being elected into Senate in Massachusetts, Massachusetts Senate, Wolf continues to fly during summer months on weekends.
As the Senator for Cape Cod, Wolf supports Cape Wind, a project to build an offshore wind farm in Nantucket Sound. In 2011, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships praised Wolf’s company Cape Air for efficient initiatives such as installing a major solar panel system at their headquarters, expanding office recycling, and distributing compact fluorescent light bulbs to employees.

The Ethics Commission later granted his campaign a reprieve, allowing Wolf to make an appeal at their next scheduled meeting on September 19. At the meeting, the Commission ruled 4–1 to reverse its decision which disqualified him from public office, allowing him to remain in office and renew his candidacy Governor. On October 21, Wolf announced he was ending his campaign for governor, due to the fact that even though the Ethics Commission voted to change its rules, the implementation would have likely taken several months. On June 17, 2014, Wolf endorsed Don Berwick as the Democratic nominee for governor.
