Dale Ervine (born May 19 1964, in Torrance, California) is an ex- U.S. soccer midfielder who played the majority of his time practicing indoor soccer. Ervine also played five times for the U.S. national team between 1985 and 1993.
The year 1986 was the time that Ervine became a professional player for his team, the Los Angeles Heat of the Western Soccer Alliance (WSA). Ervine didn’t play with the Heat in 1988 or 1987, but returned in years 1989 and 1990. The Heat made it to the WSL semi-finals in 1989. Between 1989 and the 1990 season in the 1990 season, the WSL was merged together with the American Soccer League (ASL) to create the American Professional Soccer League (APSL). The Heat continued to enjoy success in 1990 , and they made it to the APSL final game before resigning. The following season, Ervine moved to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. He didn’t return to the field until 1993, when he was again to Los Angeles, this time with the Los Angeles Salsa of the APSL. The Salsa lost to the Colorado Foxes in the title game. The following year, Ervine was a member of the Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). He would play for the Wings for the following seven seasons. In 1992, the MISL was shut down and the Wings relocated into the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) which he played in until the conclusion 1994-93 season. The year 1993 saw Ervine was signed by Los Angeles United of the brand new indoor league called the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL). Although it was an indoor league the CISL was played in the summer instead of the traditional winter time played in MISL and NPSL. MISL or NPSL. L.A. United was sold to new owners in 1994. The team relocated in Anaheim, California where it was named Anaheim Splash. Anaheim Splash. Ervine was a part of the newly named team until the end of 1997 season. The CISL ended up folding at the conclusion year 1997. Ervine finished his CISL career at number eight on the assists, goals and points list with 135, 114, and 249 respectively. The month of August, 1998 saw Ervine joined the Sacramento Knights of the Premier Soccer Alliance. The PSA changed into known as the World Indoor Soccer League in 1999. Ervine quit playing following the 1999 season.
In 1997, in addition to playing with the Splash, Ervine also coached the team. The Splash ended the season at 16-12 and was eliminated by the Sacramento Knights in the second round of the play offs.
Ervine had five caps for his U.S. national team between 1985 between 1985 and 1993. His first cap came during his junior year at college when he took part in an 1-1 draw against Canada in April of 1985. He returned one year later, as an alternative to Eric Eichmann in another tie that was this time with Uruguay on February 7th of 1986. He didn’t make an appearance for the national side up to March 23rd, 1993, when he was substituted for Sadri Gjonbalaj in a match in a match with El Salvador. His final cap came two days later , in the loss of 4-1 to Honduras.

After graduation from North Torrance High in 1982, Ervine received a scholarship to UCLA. He played for the next four years as a middlefielder in the Bruins. In 1982 1983 and 1985 the team’s offensive MVP. The year 1985 was his final season at UCLA the Bruins were victorious in their first NCAA Championship. Ervine was named the overall MVP of the team for the entire season. He was also named a first-team All American.
in 1983 Ervine made the team for the U.S. U-20 national team, which finished 1-1-2 in the 1983 FIFA World Youth Championship.
In 1992, he earned nine caps, scoring eleven goals, with the U.S. National Futsal Team. That year, the U.S. took second in the FIFA Futsal World Championship. His eleven goals puts him second on the all time U.S. goals list.
