Douglas Scott Rogo (February 1 1950 until August 18 October 18, 1990) was a journalist, writer as well as a journalist and researcher on parapsychology related topics. Rogo was killed in the year 1990 at the age 40. The murder remains unsolved.

Rogo had last been seen alive the 14th of August the 14th of August, 1990. He was found murdered to death inside his home by the police on August 16, 1990. There was no evidence of fighting, however some of the items belonging to Rogo were missing, and the wallet in his possession was not full. The police then arrested the 29-year-old Hispanic man named John Battista. After a mistrial in the beginning, John Battista was found guilty of murdering Rogo in 1992. After a long process of appeals, the conviction was later reversed due to misconduct by the prosecutor, in the year 1996. The identity of his killer is not known and the investigation is ongoing.

He wrote or co-wrote 20 books and more than 100 magazine and journal articles, 7 books were reprinted in 2005 by Anomalist Books, Leaving the body was reprinted in 2008 by Simon & Schuster. Rogo was active at the Psychical Research Foundation (formerly at Durham, North Carolina) and at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Rogo was open-minded about the subject of the possibility of sustaining consciousness after death. He stated the following “favourable to the survival notion” However, he was skeptical about certain psychical phenomena since he believed these could have been psychological phenomena. Rogo is best known for his novel written by him and Raymond Bayless titled Phone Calls From The Dead (1979) in which they discuss the alleged phenomenon of paranormal activity in which people say that they receive brief, simple and often one-time phone calls from the spirits of friends, relatives or even strangers.

The family was raised to Los Angeles, California, and attended in the University of Cincinnati and San Fernando Valley State College (now California State University, Northridge and Northridge).
