In 1988, while studying at San Francisco State University, Drollinger and artist Jason Mecier formed the performance art group, Enrique. The comedy group’s stage antics, and sometimes twisted approach to 70s TV nostalgia, earned them their first opening gig to their fellow band members, the Average White band at The Kennel Club in San Francisco. Their outrageous stage performances earned them an enthusiastic San Francisco following from the late 1980s until the mid 1990s.
