Hinton was consistently impressive for Rovers during 2007 and scoring his debut goals with Rovers at FA Cup matches against Leyton Orient and Rushden & Diamonds and then additional goals scored against Fulham, Carlisle United and Cheltenham Town. These goals earned Hinton the nickname of ‘Goal Machine’. Hinton has been recently utilized more as a substitute in the absence of Bristol Rovers with Byron Anthony, Steve Elliot and Danny Coles are reportedly preferred at the centre back position. On May 5, 2009, Hinton was informed that Hinton’s contract was due to expire, as will Joe Jacobson, Ryan Green and Craig Disley.

In August 2011, he moved into non-League football signing for Solihull Moors.

On 17 March 2011, it was announced that Hinton will re-join Bristol Rovers as Stuart Campbell’s assistant manager until the end of the 2010/2011 season. As Hinton had already played games during the 2010/2011 season for Northampton Town and Luton Town, he will not be allowed to play for the Gas.

Hinton was signed by Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2004, where he made the majority of his 38 appearances as a right-back. In the summer of 2006, Hinton signed a new contract that kept Hinton at Bristol Rovers’ Memorial Stadium for a further two years. He played 36 times during his second year at the club. He also formed an effective defensive team together with Steve Elliott in the centre of the defence.

Craig Hinton (born 26 November 1977 in Wolverhampton, West Midlands) is a West Midlands-based English Former professional soccer player. He played his last game for Solihull Moors.

Hinton made the move from his new club Kidderminster Harriers in September 1998 after a stint as a player with Birmingham and not being able to make it into first-team St Andrew’s. When Hinton first joined Aggborough the club, he was a the right-back position before Jan Molby took over as manager and he was able to play at center back. The 1999-2000 season was a good one. Hinton was only absent for one game. This was the season in which Harriers won victory over the Conference title. He continued to be present following Harriers first season of League football. He played a total of the 214 times he played in his six years at Aggborough after which he opted out of an extension in his summer 2004 when several clubs were keen to take him on. He opted to join the team of the former Birmingham City Youth Coach Broadhurst who was assistant to Ian Atkins at Bristol Rovers.

Hinton joined League Two side Northampton Town, and was made club captain ahead of the 2009–10 season. Hinton was sent on a one-month loan to Conference Premier side Luton Town on 26 November 2010. He played in two FA Trophy games before returning to Northampton on 6 January 2011.
