John Craig Flournoy (born June 26th 1951 Shreveport, Louisiana, USA) is a professor of journalism of the University of Cincinnati and a former investigative reporter at The Dallas Morning News, in which he was a part of the coverage of the second half of the civil rights movement.

He began teaching in 2014 at Cincinnati. From 2003 until 2013 the school was Southern Methodist University, where in 1986, he was awarded the master of Arts degree in historical studies. He also taught classes on computer-assisted journalism and investigative reporting, the historical aspects of American journalism and communications law on The University of Cincinnati. From 1997 to 1998 when he was on the leave of The Dallas Morning News, He was his Phillip G. Warner Professor of Journalism at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

Prior to his position as The Dallas Morning News, Flournoy was columnist and reporter from January 1977 until in December 1978 with the disbanded Shreveport Journal under the editor Stanley R. Tiner. In The Journal Flournoy and Bill Keith conducted an investigation into The office that was run by Webster Parish Sheriff O. H. Haynes Jr. as well as the Springhill Police Department in Springhill for corruption. The journalists claimed that both departments had covered allegations of ticket-fixing, prostitution, theft of bond money and narcotics violations. Investigative efforts by the Chief Criminal Sheriff’s deputy T. C. Bloxom Jr. as well as Mayor M. A. Gleason, Jr., of Springhill found no evidence of any wrongdoing. Haynes emerged from his hospital room in Shreveport which is where he is receiving treatment for bronchitis to deny any allegations. It was reported the fact that The Shreveport Times was, in the meantime, working on a report about the lower rate of crime within Webster Parish compared to other localities. The investigation was ended up clearing Haynes. The State Attorney General William J. Guste returned an indictment but not in the Haynes case.
