Christopher Paul “CP” Lee (born 19 January 1950 in Didsbury south of Manchester) is an actor, journalist broadcaster, lecturer, lecturer and performer who began singing in North West folk and beat clubs of the 1960s in his group Greasy Bear and became a key lynchpin in the punk rock explosion in his second group Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoias (other members comprised Bruce Mitchell, Jimmy Hibbert, Les Prior, Bob Harding, Simon White, Ray “Mongo” Hughes, Tony Bowers, John Scott and Captain Mog). In 1977, Lee composed Sleak, a “snuff-rock” musical Sleak, which ran for a period of time at the London’s Royal Court Theatre and the Roundhouse. The show then ran on the stage at Privates at New York City in 1980. Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoias broke up in 1982 following having released three albums. Lee later composed and performed an homage performance of routines of Lord Buckley initially in Manchester and then in various other cities, including Amsterdam, New York and London. Lee additionally worked as a musician journalist.
CP Lee is now retired after serving as a course director in film studies and a senior instructor in The University of Salford and continues making and presenting talks and documentary films on BBC radio and TV. Since 2004, he has been a co-trustee for the Manchester District Music Archive
