Cory Gene Raymer (born March 3 1973) is an American professional and college footballer who played as a center player in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons. Raymer played in the NCAA football tournament for at the University of Wisconsin, and was named an All-American. The second- round selection in the 1995 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the Washington Redskins and San Diego Chargers of the NFL.

On the 11th of March, 2004, Raymer returned to the Redskins after signing as a free-agent where he played in 15 games and played 14 during a 6-09 season. He was sacked his position as the starting player in the hands of free-agent Casey Rabach, but he played in two regular-season games and as a player in the game against Seattle Seahawks in the divisional playoff game. Following the end of the season the team resigned from football.

Raymer later went on to join the San Diego Chargers in 2002 after which Larry Moore became the starting center for Washington. However, Raymer however, suffered an end-of-season Achilles injury only 3 games in to the campaign. The following season, Raymer again bounced back and was in the squad for fifteen games, beginning with eight.

Raymer was chosen for Raymer by Washington Redskins in the second round (37th selection) in the 1995 NFL Draft, and he was a part of the Redskins from 1995 until 2001. In 1996, on the way back to his home after a fishing trip when a car crossed his route. To escape the vehicle, Raymer turned over his vehicle, and was struck by an injured kidney, a fractured vertebra and severely injured left shoulder. This caused him to be out for the remainder of the season, putting the rest of his NFL career in doubt. In the end, Raymer played six games in the following season, and played three games following Jeff Uhlenhake’s injured.

He was substituted at the centre by Mark Fischer. However, Raymer returned in 2001 when he played throughout the entire 16-game series of the 8-8 season of won-lost.

Raymer attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he played for the Wisconsin Badgers football team from 1991 to 1994. As a senior in 1994, he was recognized as a unanimous first-team All-American at center. He was Wisconsin’s first consensus All-American since Tim Krumrie in 1981. Raymer was also one of 12 nominees for the 1994 Lombardi Award, which is awarded to college football’s top lineman. He graduated from Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in letters and sciences.
