Finnan participated for the first time in the World Cup of Darts in February 2013 alongside William O’Connor. They defeated Denmark 5-1 in their initial game, and despite losing in the final to South Africa 4-5 they finished at the top of Group B on leg advantage to make it into the final 16. They were up against Japan and lost by a score of 3-5. Finnan was defeated 5-4 by Adrian Gray in the second round of the UK Open. Finnan was a participant in the World Grand Prix for the first time, and he got the best result to his record in the opening round, as he beat Terry Jenkins by two sets to one. Finnan was able to lead two-time winner James Wade 1-0 and 2-1 in the following round, but it was decided in a final set. In the 2-1 set Finnan failed to hit a single 10 and would’ve made him at 32 after his final dart, and resulted in Wade take over and finish with 91 points to beat him. If Finnan had been successful in winning the leg, he would be throwing for the match the following. The following week, Finnan made it to the semi-finals of the Irish Matchplay final, Ireland’s largest domestic darts competition losing the match 6-4 in the final to Colin McGarry.
