Colm Keaveney is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 11, 1971 in Galway, County Galway, Ireland. Colm Keaveney (born 11 January 1971) is a prominent Irish Fianna Fail politician from Ireland. Colm Keaveney was elected an Labour Party Teachta Dala (TD) for the Galway East constituency at the general election in 2011. He was an unindependent TD following the loss of his Labour whip at the end of December of 2012. He quit the Labour Party in June 2013 and became a member of Fianna Fail in December 2013. He was the former chairman of the Labour Party. He was sacked at the general election in 2016 in the general election and then was elected Galway County Council in 2019.

In 2012, at the Labour Party Conference in Galway the party elected him as the Chairman of the Labour Party. After the release of 2012’s Constituency Commission report, he was identified as a member of The Irish Times as one of 13 TDs susceptible to losing their seat at this election. The new boundaries saw Galway East lose a seat and the removal of some 20,500 people out of the area, which was centered around the town he grew up in, Tuam.

He was an unsuccessful Fianna Fáil candidate for the Galway East constituency at the 2016 general election and was elected to Galway County Council in the Tuam Local Electoral Area in the 2019 Local Elections.

On the 13th of December, 2012 he was against the government’s plan to cut the reduction in the respite care allowance that was part of the budget for 2013 and caused him to lose his position as the Parliamentary Labour Party whip. In a tweet, just prior to voting in the Dail the Irish politician said “Acta non verba”, Latin meaning “deeds not words”. Keaveney was Chairman of the Labour Party, as he was chosen by party’s members. Keaveney was later forced to quit the Labour Party on June 26, 2013. Keaveney was vocally against his government’s X-Case legislation in two ways, namely the lack of a time period for termination, and also because he was worried his fears that it would be a sign that the “suicide” clause would “normalise” suicide at a point where suicide was already an increasingly serious issue in Ireland. Keaveney had previously voiced an opinion in favor of abortion, saying at the audience at a Tuam Town Council debate in 2000 that abortion was “the last resort for women and every aspect of a woman’s decision should be looked at and taken into consideration” and that the anti-abortion literature distributed by his colleague Martin Ward was “sickening and offensive”.
