Kresge was born in Lakewood Township, New Jersey. His parents relocated from the central region of Florida in 1972. He grew up in the Dubsdread Golf Course in Orlando which is where he started playing golf at the age of eight. After graduation, he attended his University of Central Florida with an associate degree in 1991, and then turned professional in 1991. He was a regular on mini-tours up to 1997, when he was a part of the Nationwide Tour.
Kresge has won three times at his Nationwide Tour. His best results at the PGA Tour are a pair of T-3 finishes at 2002’s B.C. Open as well as the Arnold Palmer Invitational (an event which he attended as a child following the move of his family into Orlando, Florida). He also placed 10th at 2003’s U.S. Open.
