Ciruelo designed the posters of his two Argentine film productions: Eliseo Subiela’s classic Man Facing Southeast (1986) and the surrealist-inspired cult film Fuego gris (1994), written and directed by Pablo Cesar. The artwork used for Fuego gris also was utilized in the album of Luis Alberto Spinetta with the same title that was also the soundtrack to the film.
Ciruelo Cabral was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was born blind to color. At the age of 13 Cabral began his studies at Instituto Fernando Fader, an art institute, in which he began studying in a formal manner. He began working as an illustrator at the age of 18 for a graphic advertising firm shortly after which he began creating comic cover designs. In 1987, he relocated from Barcelona, Spain where he illustrated fantasy book covers as well as interior illustrations in the name of Timun Mas, a publisher which specialises in the field of fantasy.
