Cindy-Lu Bailey is one of the most popular and richest Swimmer who was born on March 8, 1965 in Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia. Cindy-Lu Bailey, also known as Cindy-Lu Fitzpatrick, (born 8 March 1965) is an ex- Australian deaf athlete who been a part of Australia at the Commonwealth Games and in Deaflympics. She is believed to be the most decorated athlete in Deaflympics history, with the record-breaking collection of 29 medals which is the most among female athletes in Deaflympics. Bailey is also among the best swimmers of Australia throughout history.
She also represented the national team at the Commonwealth Games in 1982 and in 1986. She also took part in the Pan Pacific Games. The year 1982 saw her placed in the top 16 spots of the Speedo World Rankings list.
At the 2005 Summer Deaflympics held in Melbourne, she was given the honour of lighting cauldron (flame bearer). In fact became the only woman to be given such an opportunity in Deaflympic history. Cindy-Lu Baliley was also the torchbearer during the 2000 Summer Olympics.
In 2013, she voted as one of Australia’s Top 100 sportswomen of all time.
Cindy-Lu also took home the national title for Australia at 100 and 200 m breaststrokes in the her early 20s, while she was just 16 years old.
