in 2002 Hossfeld started racing the Featherlite Modified Series in the #4 Dodge for Bob Garbarino. He placed third in 2002, second and seventh in the standings for the following three seasons, and racked up five wins. He was a part of the team of Don Barker in the year 2005 which saw him earn five top fives, as well as finishing in the top three of points. He raced at the 40th Annual Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway, finishing third in the championship. He raced last in the modified #4 asphalt in honor of Robert Garbarino in the 2016 Toyota Mod Classic 150 at Oswego Speedway. He began 14th and ending 6th. Hossfeld started racing when he was twelve in Kart races on Lancaster Speedway. After five years, Hossfeld was racing stock cars on local short tracks, and then moved into North Carolina, working for the former modified driver Brett Bodine and Randy LaJoie. After several races with the USAR Hooters ProCup Series for LaJoie’s team, he was invited to audition to be a part of his participation in the Roush Racing Gong Race and was selected to replace the reigning winner Greg Biffle in the #50 Ford F-150. It was his Truck debut in the season’s final race in 2000 in California Speedway in the
49 Roush Performance Products Ford for Roush beginning 14th and finishing
31st following an engine problems.
Hossfeld started his full-time debut in 2001 without a major sponsorship prior to when Eldon was brought on board and Hossfeld was tenth in the race in the race at Pikes Peak International Raceway. Hossfeld was let off from the race just a few days later as was his rookie co-pilot Nathan Haseleu, who won the Gong Show competition with Hossfeld.
