Christine Marion Korsgaard, FBA (/”‘ k o:r z an the r d / born on April 9th 1952) is an American philosopher and Arthur Kingsley Porter Professor of Philosophy at Harvard University whose main scholarly interest is the moral philosophy of religion and historical development and the relationship of moral philosophy issues to metaphysics-related issues and the philosophical foundations of mentality and also the theories of individual identity and relationships between individuals; and normativity as a whole.

Korsgaard initially was a student at Eastern Illinois University for two years before she transferred to earn an B.A. at her home at the University of Illinois and a Ph.D from Harvard in which she was an undergraduate under John Rawls. She was awarded the LHD Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Illinois in 2004. She is a 1970 graduate from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Ill.

She was appointed to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2001, and was an equivalence Fellow from the British Academy in 2015. She was The President of the Eastern Division of the American Philosophical Association in 2008-2009 as well as receiving a Mellon Distinguished Achievement Award from 2006 to 2009.
