Christina Rees (born 21 February 1954) is a British Labour Co-operative Party politician who was shadow Secretary of State to Wales within the Shadow Cabinet of Jeremy Corbyn between 2017 and 2020 and was a member of the Parliament for Neath since the year 2015.
Rees was appointed Shadow Justice Minister at the beginning of January of 2016 However, she resigned her post following the resignation of a large number of shadow ministers in the aftermath of the EU referendum. She was a supporter of Owen Smith in the 2016 Labour Party (UK) leadership election. She was later one of the 33 Labour MPs who returned on the bench and again, as the Shadow Justice Minister. In February 2017 her appointment was made to the role as Shadow Secretary of State in Wales.
In April 2020, Rees announced that she wouldn’t be returning to the Official Opposition frontbench under Keir Starmer. Rees was replaced in the new Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Welsh Secretary by Nia Griffith.
In the 2020 Labour Party leadership election, Rees endorsed Keir Starmer for Labour Leader. She also endorsed Angela Rayner for deputy leader.
Rees was first elected MP for Neath in the aftermath of the UK general election in 2015.
