Saxman (born on the 18th of October 1965) is a prominent American politician belonging to the Republican Party. He was an ex-member of the Virginia House of Delegates, which represented his district of the 20th District from 2002 to his retirement in 2010. The district comprises all of the City of Staunton, the western portion of Augusta County, the southern portion of Rockingham County, and all of Highland County.

On the 1st of December, 2007 on December 1, 2007, the Associated Press reported Chris Saxman did not intend to seek for the Republican Convention nomination to replace U.S. John Warner as Senator. John Warner and would be running for reelection in the 20th District House seat in 2009.

On November 19, 2007, Saxman announced that he was mulling over a bid to run for the U.S. Senate to fill the seat of retiring Republican John Warner. Former Governor Jim Gilmore (R) announced that he was running on November 19,

2007. Saxman’s announcement comes on because of Gilmore’s announcement. Former Governor Mark Warner (D) – no relation to John Warner – has announced his candidacy. Most recent polling from November 5, 2007, has Warner leading Gilmore by 20+ points.

Saxman and United States Senator John Warner were Virginia state co-chairs for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.

After having graduated at Robert E. Lee High School He went on to get an B.A. in History from Washington and Lee University in 1987. He was employed at New York City, Philadelphia in Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. before returning to Staunton to teach U.S. History and Government for three years at Stuart Hall. He was then appointed the director of the family-owned company, Shenandoah Valley Water Company, which was a bottled-water as well as coffee distribution and delivery business.

In November 2001 the candidate became a member of his seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. (In the redistricting of 2001 his 20th District was moved to the Staunton region from Danville which was held for seven consecutive terms by Democrat Whitt Clement.) Since the beginning of 2003 Delegate Saxman is the chairman of the House Cost Cutting Caucus, an organization that is bipartisan and works to identify cost-saving opportunities in the federal government.

On November 20, 2007 the Staunton News Leader theorized that a good portion of Chris Saxman’s support for the U.S. Senate was coming from Democratic operatives supporting Mark Warner and internet provider addresses from outside the Commonwealth of Virginia.
