Christian Netane Maumalanga (born December 15th 1971) is an former American football defensive lineman. He played for the University of Kansas. He was selected into the fourth round (128th in the overall) in the 1994 NFL draft by the New York Giants.
In 1995, with the Arizona Cardinals he played in six games, recording one tackle. The following year, the player was a player only in one contest.
In 2000, he also played in the Arena Football League as an offensive lineman as well as a defensive lineman for both the Buffalo Destroyers and Houston ThunderBears. In his lone AFL season, he recorded eight tackles, one sack and two pass break-ups. In 2001, he played for the New York/New Jersey Hitmen. For the league’s lone season, he recorded 37 total tackles and four sacks.
As a child Maumalanga was a part of an gang of street kids. In June 1995, at the training session, he knocked down linebacker Mitch Davis, and had to be dragged off of by two linebackers Pete Shufelt and Jessie Armstead. Soon after Maumalanga got involved in a brawl with the future Hall of Fame defensive end Michael Strahan.

Maumalanga was picked at the fourth round (128th overall) by the New York Giants. On the 25th of July 1994, in training camp, Maumalanga was involved in a dispute against the offensive player Scott Davis. Maumalanga bled Davis after cutting open his face with a 1-inch gap between his forehead and nose and was closed with five stitches. In 1994, Maumalanga took part in a fight in the locker room in a locker room fight with Michael Strahan. Strahan was able to avoid Maumalanga’s initial strike and then locked Maumalanga in a naked choke on the rear and held him in place till the fight quelled by his teammates.
Maumalanga was a student at Kansas where Maumalanga was a four-year letters winner in the field of business. In his sophomore year Maumalanga was the first to record a safeties for the Jayhawks in Aloha Bowl history during the Jayhawks defeat of BYU. As as a senior, he racked up 75 tackles as well as 7.5 Sacks. The team also awarded him to the first team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-American as an senior. He ended his senior season with his award in 1994. Hula Bowl defensive MVP award.
In 1997, he spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams and Chicago Bears. In 1999, he spent time with the Cleveland Browns. In 2000, also spent time on the off-season roster of the Oakland Raiders.
