Christian Hargreaves (born 12 May 1972) is an English former professional footballer who was an attacking midfielder and forward from 1989 to 2010. Then he was manager of Torquay United from January 2014 until June 2015.

In January 2010, Hargreaves returned back to Oxford United, where he received promotion from the Conference for the second consecutive season.

Hargreaves played over 150 games in the league for Northampton before joining Brentford at the end of June in 2004. Hargreaves became a member of Oxford United as a free transfer in July of 2005 and remained at Oxford following their demotion to the Conference in the year 2006. Hargreaves was released by Oxford in the month of May 2007 and signed for newly-relegated Torquay United the following month. On the 17th May 2009 Torquay scored their first goal while he captained Torquay United in a 2-0 victory against Cambridge United in the Conference National play-off final held at Wembley. This victory helped them earn their promotion into The Football League.

Hargreaves was born in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, and attended the school of Lindsey School in Cleethorpes. He started as a junior team player for Everton but returned to his hometown team Grimsby Town as a trainee at the end of June

1988. He was made a professional in the month of December. He was on loan for Scarborough from March to March before resigning from Grimsby and joining Hull City in July 1993 for a cost of PS50,000.

He joined West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer in July 1995 however, he made only two appearances as a first-team player with the Baggies (both as substitutes). The club became a member of Hereford United on loan in February 1996, and stayed until the end of the season, when he transferred to Hereford as a free transfer. The next move was July 1998, when He became a member of Plymouth Argyle on a free transfer. He played regularly in the Argyle sidebefore deciding for Northampton Town on a free transfer in June 2000. He was Northampton’s star player of the season in the 2001-02 season. He signed an extension of his contract for two years at the end of July.

On 6 January 2014, Hargreaves was appointed as Torquay United manager. Hargreaves was unable to keep Torquay in the Football League despite an upturn in form and performances. He was placed on gardening leave on 14 June 2015 after rejecting a pay cut. In September 2016, Hargreaves was appointed under-21 coach at Bristol Rovers.
