Chris Dyer is one of the most popular and richest Contemporary Artist who was born on March 3, 1979 in Ottawa, Canada. Chris Dyer (born March 3 1979) is an artist from Peru and Canada who is based within Montreal, Quebec, who exhibits as well as performs and teaches his work throughout the world. Some of his more broad artistic subjects include the themes of consciousness, truth, unity and reflection, personal growth and compassion. He paints with acrylic, pen, pencil, gouache, paint and other media on various forms, such as skateboards that were broken or empty in his early days as well as various recycled and sculptured objects, and more recently wood or fabric canvas. The artist is also known for his logos, murals album covers posters and illustrations comic books and diaries of travel (The Sunlight Chronicles) as well as YouTube adventure video blogs (Artventures). He was the brand director and art director manager of Creation Skateboards/Satori movement for three and two years, designing concepts for hundreds of decks used on skates. He offers a variety of classes in art and techniques, spray painting, traditional healing practices as well as the business aspect of art, and also offers an online course. He has developed his own line of conscious clothing as well as other products, Positive Creations, which showcases some of his loved artwork. Dyer created his own brand, Positive Creations, in 2003. He provides a variety of items, including tapestries, clothing, books backpacks, watches DVDs, and more. In 2011, Schiffer Publications released a 256-page, hardcover book, of his art. Following that was a coloring book for adults that was published by Last Gasp in 2016.
He has created artwork for CD album covers or concert posters for musicians such as Ott, String Cheese Incident, Third World, 12th Planet, The Gaslamp Killer, and more. Additionally, he has live-painted for musical artists such as Diplo, Tipper, Immortal Technique, Nahko Bear, Cut Chemist and many others.
In Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Dyer moved to Lima, Peru at age 4. Dyer began skating at the age of eight years old and then began surfing at the age of 12. At the age of 14, Dyer was a member of a soccer street gang based in the city called “SepUlcro”, who were avid supporters of the Universitario of Deportes. Dyer’s parents sent Dyer to Canada to pursue studies in 1996 aged 17. He grew up at Ottawa with his mother, in which he attended Heritage College and University of Ottawa and , during that time, the student was a frequent drinker , and was extremely self-destructive. Dyer moved from Ottawa to Montreal at the end of 2000 in order to pursue a degree in illustration in Dawson College. The summer of 2001, he was involved in to plant trees, and this led Dyer to pursue the more spiritual side of his life. Later in his life Dyer was a student of (and later, taught alongside) masters of the vision, such as Alex Grey, Robert Venosa, Martina Hoffman, Laurence Caruana, A. Andrew Gonzales, Maura Holden, and Amanda Sage. Traveling is an integral aspect of Dyer life-long exploration He has visited more than 40 countries in order to paint street murals, paint live during festivals and to create exhibitions in galleries. One of the places where Dyer had a solo show was Belgium in which he was introduced to Valerie Lambert, whom he was married in the year 2010, however divorced in 2016.

Dyer began skateboarding around Christmas day in 1986, and skates until today. It was in 2000 that he began doing his artworks on skateboards that the skater had used and kept throughout the years. His skate-inspired paintings helped him stand out from the Montreal art scene, and also brought the skaters all over all over the world, mostly through skate magazine stories. In 2004, he got the dream job of his life, working on skate designs for Creation Skateboards, from San Francisco who kept him in California for several years. In 2011, Dyer became the post of Brand Manager and Art Director of Creation Skateboards, a position which he held for 3.5 years. He also created 6 catalogs, and directing the skate-themed video “Soul Harmonics”. Dyer continues to freelance for a range of skate brands like Santa Cruz, Deathwish, Think, Skull, and many more. He has created more than 100 commercial skateboard illustrations. In the late decade of 2010, Dyer was doing less high-end skateboard deck painting and had shifted to complete installation (like Dyer’s “Skatebot Army”) structured using recycled skateboards.
Dyer’s first encounter with aerosols occurred in 1993, when he used to paint the walls in Lima, Peru, where Dyer would announce his street-gang’s name that he belonged to (Sepulcro Crema). Dyer’s cousin Patrick (a.k.a. Peru Peru) later began doing graffiti, and Chris avoided the medium for several years in order to stay clear of the rivalry between brothers. Later in 2007, after the brothers were roommates in Montreal when they began to perform in their backyard and Chris became addicted to the medium. Nowadays spray paint is among Chris primary mediums particularly in the outdoors and traveling. Chris’s goal is to improve the beauty of the world and leave a footprint as he travels around the world. There are many of Chris’s bright and vibrant murals throughout the world. While Chris prefers jams that are organically-organized block parties, Chris has also been invited to create murals for acknowledged festivals such as MURAL Festival, Art Basel Miami, Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia, Ozora Festival in Hungary and Puro Muro in Lima, Peru.
In the late 2010s, he started offering painting workshops at local high schools in Montreal. This led to offering workshops for artists in places like Italy, Bali, India, Thailand, and Australia. He now offers them at institutions such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Gallery of Canada, The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors and The Vienna Academy of Visionary Art. Starting in 2017, he created an art workshop combined with healing shamanic ceremonies, at Katari Center, in the jungle near Tarapoto, Peru.
