Chris Daw is one of the most popular and richest Curler who was born on February 1, 1970 in North York, Ontario, Canada. Christopher (Chris) Daw (born January 1, 1970 on the island of North York, Ontario) is a paralympian who has participated in marathons, adaptive track and volleyball, wheelchair basketball, curling, and wheelchair rugby for Canada. Daw was once regarded as the fastest wheelchair athlete from the years 1985 through 1987. He remains the one Canadian player to have represented Canada in numerous Paralympic Games for multiple different sports. He is also among the few athletes who represent Canada in both Summer and Winter Paralympic Games. The year 1986 was the time he was awarded six Gold medals and set six world records during the first World Games for disabled youth in Nottingham, England. He was a part of the 1984 and 1988 Canadian Paralympic teams for adaptive track and a part of the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball team, as well as a participant in the Canadian Wheelchair Rugby Team at the 2000 Summer Paralympics before beginning to curl in wheelchairs in 2000.

In 2006, it was reported that Daw had the son of Kyle and his first partner Mari Brown. In March of 2009 Daw was married to Morgan Perry, a former player Canadian women’s team junior softball. On February 23, 2010, Daw and Perry gave the birth of their child, Arowyn Emma Ellie. Daw and Perry divorced in the year 2015.

In 2010, Daw formally announced his retirement from competitive sports to focus on his family and career. In January 2012 after Eric Eales of wheelchaircurling.com stopped publishing his blog posting on wheelchair curling; it was announced Daw was taking over with a new blog spot called Wheelchair Curling Blog 2. Daw received over 5000 readers in the first month on the new blog which changed formats allowing for publishing of stories on wheelchair curling from around the world though direct input by the players, coaches or interested parties. The blog after 2015 National championships in Quebec experienced over 5.5 million+ viewers

After leaving Vancouver in 2011, in 2012, Daw signed on with Ken Strong to support a sports venue, Ice Twice Rinks Inc. in Oakville, Ontario. He became the Executive Director of the business. In eight months, Daw was able to fully recover the facility from financial hardship. With dimensions over 70,000 square feet, the facility was home to two rinks, a goalie pad, a shooting pad, a board room, a multi-purpose room, and space for dry land training. Programs at the rink were run by experienced coaches such as Al Iafrate, Eddi Choi, Christina Kessler, Ryan Munce, and Bill Hoover. Daw left Ice Twice Rinks in 2015, which was sold in for profit to Jamie Allison; a former NHL player with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Since 2000 Daw has been a leading reporter on the sport of wheelchair curling including the creation of the Wcblog2.com. In 2018 Daw decided to close down the Wcblog2.com due to lack of information sharing and time commitment restrictions. Daw has also done extensive work with CBC television during the Paralympic games as a commentator in 2010, 2014 and 2018. Along with his Paralympic work, Daw began working with CBC on other ventures, including 2018 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championships.

In April of this year, Daw lost his mother Eleanor Daw at 63 years after an attack on her heart. According Daw Daw his mother’s passing has caused a significant transformation in him, which Daw often mentioned as being the reason he decided to retire from international competition.

Curling was his first sport in 2000. He was skippered by the Canadian team in the 2002 World Wheelchair Curling Championship in Sursee, Switzerland, where the team was awarded silver. A year after that, he’d be the skipper for the Canadian team as well as in the Wheelchair Curling championship, again in Sursee in which the team took home bronze. He would become the skipper for the Canadian team, who took home Gold at the Wheelchair curling during the 2005 Winter Paralympics. In 2007, he retracted his name from Team Canada selection process that could have resulted in an appearance on the team for the 2010 Winter Paralympics. Daw returned to the Wheelchair Curling Team for Newfoundland as Skip in 2008, but had to move into British Columbia in 2009. He was the General Manager for Vancouver Curling Club. Vancouver Curling Club when it assumed control of its Olympic Curling center (now Hillcrest Center) in 2011.In 2010 it was reported that Daw returned to competitive curling and becoming a part of Jim Armstrong (curler). Jim was Jim’s second player on an local BC team for provincial play-downs, he hoped to represent Team BC. Team Armstrong failed to win an 2011 BC Championship title. Armstrong was later to move to Ontario. Daw announced his retirement in the month of December.

In 2010 Daw was admitted into the London Sports Hall of Fame on the 23rd of September in a ceremony with Christine Nesbitt and Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.
