Cho So-hyun (Korean: josohyeon , Korean pronunciation: [tco.so.hj^n] ; born on June 24, 1988) is a South Korean footballer who plays as a midfielder with West Ham United in the FA WSL and is the captain of the South Korean national team. Cho was captain of South Korea at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. In their final group game, Cho scored a crucial goal to equalize against Spain. They went on to win the game and finished third in their group, which allowed them to qualify for knockout stage. This was the first time that South Korea had progressed to the round of 16. In 2015, Cho was awarded”the” KFA Soccer Player of the Year. It’s a big league, and to be signing for a big club like West Ham with all the history, makes it even more special.” Cho made her debut on the same day coming on as a second-half substitute against title challengers Manchester City. In February 2019 Cho provided both assists for Alisha Lehmann as West Ham beat Reading 2–1.
On the 7th of February, the 7th of February, 2018, Cho was signed to sign a single-year deal in the Norwegian club Avaldsnes IL, becoming the first South Korean woman to play in Norway. On April 22, 2018 the debut was made in a 3-0 defeat to Valerenga. Alongside Cho, Avaldsnes IL reached the 32nd round during the 2017-18 UEFA Women’s Champions League.
