Chiu Yi is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on May 8, 1956 in Yanchao District, Taiwan. Chiu Yi (Chinese: Qiu Yi ; pinyin: Qiu Yi ; born 8 May 1956) is an ex- Kuomintang as well as a People First Party legislator of the Republic of China (Taiwan) well-known for his pro-unification stances. He was also an official of the New Party.

In January 2008 He was found guilty of slander after saying that DPP Chairman Yu Shyi Kun of illegally lobbying. In 2015, he was suing repeatedly by DPP for defamation in relation to remarks he made about the presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen’s real estate dealings. The former KMT presidant Ma Ying-jeou has also thought about filing an action against Chiu in 2020 to claim that Ma was the one responsible for his demotion from the KMT legislator-at-large list of candidates in the 2020 Taiwanese legislative election.

In the 2020 Taiwanese legislative election he was listed eighth on the Kuomintang party list but relinquished his placement after public criticism and accepted a nomination to be placed at the top of the New Party at-large party list. The New Party did not meet the 5% vote threshold and therefore none of its party list legislators were elected.

In July 2006 the lawyer filed a special lawsuit alleging that the president was in violation of his funds Chen Shui-bian. In November of 2019 the lawyer brought a lawsuit for defamation against Taipei mayor Ko Wen-je over an assertion that his choice of his position on the Kuomintang as well as the New Party legislator-at-large list in the 2020 Taiwanese legislative elections could suggest the Chinese Taiwan Affairs Office has “control” over both parties..
